Soybean Farming Questions

How to control Yellow Mosaic Virus (YMV) in soybean?

YMV has no direct cure. The only management is vector control: spray Thiamethoxam 25% WG (0.3 g/L) or Imidacloprid 17.8% SL (0.3 ml/L) to control whitefly. Remove and destroy infected plants immediately to prevent spread. Use resistant varieties where available.

What is the best insecticide for girdle beetle in soybean?

Chlorpyrifos 20% EC + Cypermethrin 10% EC (1.5 ml/L) or Profenofos 50% EC (2 ml/L) are most effective against girdle beetle in soybean. Spray at first sign of stem girdling (notch formation), between 20–30 DAS.

Does soybean need nitrogen fertilizer?

Soybean is a legume and fixes atmospheric nitrogen through Rhizobium bacteria. A starter dose of 20–25 kg N/ha as basal is recommended. Seed inoculation with Rhizobium + PSB gives the best nitrogen fixation and reduces fertilizer costs significantly.
